Phyto 7

Contents: 1.7 oz / 50ml
Price: HK$220.00
Local of Purchase: Citysuper

According to Phyto's webpage:

A leave-in cream that transforms dry hair into silky soft tresses while preventing split ends and calming static.

Infused with seven pure and natural plant extracts, this weightless leave-in conditioner instantly hydrates, smoothes and protects fine to medium textured tresses while preventing frizz and split ends. Hair is left silky soft and illuminated with shine.

Directions for use:
  • After shampooing, spread a pea-sized amount to well towel-dried or dry hair.
  • Apply to all the hair, concentrating on the ends.
  • Style

  • Ingredients: Althaea Officinalis Extract (Mucilage Végétal), Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Lecithin (Soja), Arctium Majus Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Roseary) Leaf Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Leaf Extract, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Parabens (Butyl, Ethyl).

    My Opinion:

I've nearly finish my tube, and it really did nothing to my hair.

I always apply leave in conditioner on towel dry hair, and when is air dried my hair would usually feel smooth and soft, but this product didn't leave my hair soft.

I've tried using this on dry hair, and still did not notice any improvement. In order to make this work, I've started by applying moroccanoil on towel dry hair, and when my hair is fully dried, I'll apply this at my ends. This seems to work, but I can't wear this on a daily basis, and I'll only be able to use 2 leave in conditioners when it is extremely dry, otherwise Moroccanoil alone will do.

    Moroccanoil Treatment Light

    Contents: 3.4fl oz / 100 ml
    Price: HK$400.00
    Local of Purchase: Hair salon

    According to the moroccanoil's webpage:

Moroccanoil® Treatment Light is specifically formulated for the delicate needs of ultra-fine and light-colored (including white) hair. Inspired by the original formula that pioneered the oil-infused hair care category, creating the worldwide buzz on argan oil. A versatile and multitasking product, it is an essential foundation for hairstyling that can be used as a conditioning, styling and finishing tool. It even speeds up drying time and helps restore and revive hair damaged from chemicals found in shampoos, color processes and perms, as well as environmental factors. Infused with antioxidant-rich argan oil, strengthening proteins and shine-boosting vitamins. A completely transformative treatment that leaves the hair healthy, shiny and more manageable.

Apply 1–2 pumps of Moroccanoil® Treatment Light to clean, towel-dried hair, from mid-length to ends. Blow-dry or let dry naturally. Apply on dry hair to tame flyaways or condition split ends.

TIP: Mix a few drops of Moroccanoil Treatment Light with Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask, Weightless Hydrating Mask or Restorative Hair Mask for added nourishment.

Ingredients: cyclomethicone, dimethicone, argania spinosa kernel oil (argan oil), fragrance (parfum), linum usitatissimum (linseed) seed extract, butylphenyl methylpropional, benzyl benzoate, alpha-isomethyl ionone, CI26100 (D&C Red no.17), CI 47000 (D&C Yellow NO.11)

    My Opinion:

I've been using the original formula for nearly 6 months, but when I ran out of it around December last year, my salon only had the light formula.

I've used the light formula for a few days and notice that it wasn't enough for needs, after using 2 pumps my hair still wasn't soft enough, so I've started to use something else....

Recently I've got this out again and started to use it during the hot and humid summer days, and for this time it was just perfect, it left my hair smooth and soft. I guess the light formula is better suited for the summer, while the original formula is for the dry winter days.

Schwarzkopf Extra Care Shea Cashmere Leave on Spray

    Contents: 150ml
    Price: HK$49.90
    Local of Purchase: Mannings

    According to the package:

Intensive leave-in spray-treatment – for ultimate shine and care without greasiness nor weighing down the hair. Light as a spray but as intensively caring as a serum.

Ingredients: Aqua, Cyclomethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethiconol, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Polyquaternium -16, Cetrimonium Chloride, Lactid Acid, Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Butyrospermum ParkII (Sheer Butter), Benzophenone-4, Fragrance, Sodium Benzoate.

    My Opinion:

So far I've really liked Schwarzkopf products, they work really well on my hair, but the scent just puts me off, like most of Schwarzkopf products, it has a musky scent that is really masculine, I don't really hate it, but I would have prefer something fruitier or fresher.

I've been using this as leave in conditioner, and it didn't really amaze me. Until recently I've started to apply heat on my hair and this left my hair super soft, so now I'm using this as a heat protectant and I love it.

Although I'm still not a huge fan of the scent, it goes away after sometime and it doesn't linger, so I'm willing to put up with it.

    Liese Smooth Hair Cocktail

    Contents: 140ml
    Price: HK$49.90
    Local of Purchase: Mannings

    According to Kao's webpage:

The bi-layer treatment mist contains a layer of moisture milk and repairing water which combines perfectly into a smooth misture.

It penetrates and coats each strand of hair evenly, so you can smoothen out all tangles instantly.

Moisture milk: the rich creamy moisture milk lock in moisture and leave a smooth coating on each strand of hair. This gives a smooth finish and allows your hair to be combed through easily. No more tugging and pulling, which means no more broken hair ends.

Repairing water is absorbed instantly and hydrates the hair from inside out.

    My Opinion:

This is not a leave in hair treatment, it says in the product description that it's a detangler, so don't expect it to repair, but it does a great job in detangling. It also left my hair smooth when dried, but I've noticed that my hair was stickier if I let it air dry, but if I apply heat after using this it didn't felt sticky, so I've been using this as a heat protectant a well.

    Moroccan Oil Treatment

    Contents: 3.4 fl oz / 100ml

    According to Moroccan Oil's webpage:

Moroccanoil® Treatment’s versatile, nourishing and residue-free formula can be used as a conditioning, styling and finishing tool. It blends perfectly with other products and even speeds up drying time. This treatment for hair completely transforms and repairs as its formula transports lost proteins for strength; fatty acids, omega-3 oils and vitamins for shine; and antioxidants for protection. It absorbs instantly to fill gaps in hair created by heat, styling and environmental damage.

    My Opinion:

I've been using Ice Cream Crystal Beauty Sealing Liquid Crystals as a hair treatment for nearly 7 years, but recently I've been persuaded by my stylist to get the Moroccan oil. I don't remember exactly how much I've paid for it, but it was close to HK$600, comparing it to my favorite Ice Cream Crystals, which was less than HK$200, this was definetly expensive.

Anyway, I was really surprise that I've liked it more than the Ice Cream Crystals that I have been using. This feels really light on the hair and it doesn't leave my hair greasy, but most importantly I did notice an improvement on my hair texture, and I've only been using it for about a month.

I've recently found that this is actually available at lookfantastic.com for 30.45 Pounds, which is about half of what I've paid for, and with free shipping, I'll definetly repurchase.

Vidal Sassoon Heat Protect Mist for Rich Curl

    Contents: 150ml
    Price: HK$59.9
    Local of Purchase: Mannings

Ingredients: Water, Alcohol, Glycerine, Butylene Glycol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Maltitol, PRG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-100 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, VP/Methacrylamide/Vinylimidazole Copolymer, Methylparaben, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Polyquaternium-49, Disodium EDTA, Polyquaternium-55, Polysorbate 20, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Fragrance, PEG-8, Beewax, Hydrolized Silk PG-Propylmethylsilanediol

    My Opinion:
I've tried googling about this product, but nothing came up in English, and I'm suspecting these are Asia exclusive items. Anyway I've needed a heat protectant and couldn't find TRESemme Heat Tamer Protective Spray (has it been discontinued?), the only heat protectant available at the store was vidal sassoon.

The VS heat protectant comes in 2 formulas one for straightening and one for curling. I got both but haven't tried the straightening one yet.

I was actually expecting all heat protectants to be the same, but I found that the VS heat protectants to be very different from Tresemme. Apart from smelling better and having a better pump, it really does hold the curls longer.

I think this is a really good heat protectant, but as usual there's a down side, after using VS I have to wash my hair before bed, I've tried sleeping on it and my hair was super greasy the next morning.

O2 Ionic Color Lock Hair Spray

    Contents: 250ml
    Price: HK$168
    Local of Purchase: hair salon

    My Opinion:

You might have seen a few O2 hair care products popping up once in awhile because that's the brand that my hair salon uses.

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of their products, and I find them overpriced, but once in a while I do get the items recommended by my stylist.

This is actually a very light weight leave in conditioner that doesn't weight down your hair and it won't leave your hair sticky, but I found it to be very similar to my favorite leave in conditioner Lendan, which is alot more economical.

Alot of people has been asking me where to get this brand in HK, and I seriously don't know because I've only seen this at my hair salon (located in Macau), and I've got no idea where you'll find it in HK.

Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Leave On Treatment

    Contents: 120 ml
    Price: HK$37.90
    Local of Purchase: Mannings

Contents: Water, Alcohol Denat, Dimethicone, and C12-14 Pareth-12, Butylene Glycol, Perfume, Isopropyl Myristate, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylates, Crosspolymer, Arginine, Xanthan Gum, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Polyquaternium-39, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, CI 15985, CI 19140

    My Opinion:
I love Dove hair care products, especially the Nourishing Oil Care Series, which I've tried several products and have happily repurchased. However, I'm not so sure about the Intensive Repair Series, I've tried their Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Daily Treatment together with this product and it didn't do much to my hair.

I've recently ran out of heat protectant and have been using this leave on treatment, it is a very light cream that doesn't feel sticky and it didn't weight down my hair, but seriously I didn't notice any improvement on my hair texture. I'll try to finish this bottle but won't be repurchasing.

    Macadamia Natural Oil Set

    Price: US$23.99
    Local of purchase: Drugstore.com

This set comes with the following:
    • 3.3oz Rejuvenating Shampoo
    • 2oz Moisturizing Rinse
    • 1oz Healing Oil Treatment
    • 3.3oz Deep Repair Masque
    • 2oz Nourishing Leave-In Cream
    • Healing Oil Infused Comb
    • Travel Bag
The reason why I've got this set was because I've previously purchase a Shampoo and Masque in full size and didn't like it, and in order not to waste anymore money, but still wanting to give this brand another chance, I've decided to get a sample set.

So far I've tried the Leave-in conditioner, and I guess this is the only product from the whole set that I might consider purchasing a full size. It smells great, it does not leave my hair sticky and it works great as a heat protectant.

The healing oil treatment was my least favorite product, the scent is totally different in compariosn with the other products, and it has a very strong masculine/musky scent that I'm not a huge fan.

Although this is a tiny bottle, it'll last you for awhile because you only need a tiny bit of product for your hair, if you use too much it will leave your hair greasy. Unfortunately I have a full size bottle of this product, so I'll try to make it work and write a more detail review about it later.

    TRESemme Heat Tamer Protective Spray

    Contents: 300ml
    Price: HK$62.9
    Local of Purchase: Watson's

    According to TRESemme's webpage:

There's one rule when you expose your hair to heat — the hair must be protected. This product guards against heat and friction to keep your hair shiny and incredibly soft. It's a fantastic tool for instantly transforming all hair textures, enhancing strands' flexibility to reform and hold shape.

    How it works:
    • To guard against heat styling damage and friction, spray this multi-use protective spray to keep your hair shiny and incredibly soft. It's a fantastic tool for instantly transforming all hair textures, enhancing hairs' flexibility to reform and hold shape.
    • Also, the moisture-locking vitamin complex hydrates and is heat-activated to guard against harsh styling damage.
    How to use:
    1. Spray liberally 6-8 inches away from mid-shaft to ends. Its trigger spray offers easy misting.
    2. Use both on damp hair before you blow-dry and on dry hair before curling or flat ironing to shield hair from damaging heat.
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Amodimethicone, PEG 12 Dimethicone, PVP, Propylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Silk, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Niacinamide, Biotin (Vitamin H), Panthenol, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Polysorbate 20, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth 12, Cetyl Pyridinium Chloride, Benzophenone 4, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Benzoate, Butylphenyl Methlyproprional, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexylcinnamal, Hydroxyisohexl 3 Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Linalool, Fragrance (Parfum)

    My Opinion:

I've recently changed my hair style and now I need to curl my hair everyday, and in order to protect my already super damage hair, I've started to use a heat protectant. This is actually my first heat protectant and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I guess that this product does work because after curling my hair everyday for 2 months, I didn't notice any additional damage.

I've recently finished my bottle,  but was unable to repurchase it, I went to all the stores in HK and was unable to find it, can someone tell me if this product has been discontinued in HK?

    Mandom Baby Veil Hair Fragrance

    Scent: Fresh Savon
    Contents: 80g
    Price: HK$49
    Local of Purchase: City' Super

Ingredients: LPG, Ethanol, Dimethicone, Spice, Methylphenyl polysiloxane, Isononyl isononanoate

    My Opinion:

I've tried to google about this product but all the information that came up are either in Chinese or Japanese...

This product claims to be a hair fragrance, and I've used it several times when I woke up late and didn't have time to wash my hair, apart from smelling good, it actually works abit like a dry shampoo, it removes the oilyness and gives you a bit of a lift. It's not as strong as a dry shampoo, so if your hair is really oily it won't work.

    Leave in conditioner

    Price: 25 Bahts
Local of Purchase: Central Food Hall (Thailand)

As I have mentioned on my previous post, I forgot to bring a leave-in conditioner on my last trip to Thailand and had to get something to tame down my unruly hair, since the Boots Botanics Leave-in Volumizing Conditioner did not work, I went into Central Food Hall and got a few different leave-in conditioner to try out, and I was lucky this time, because most of the items that I got seems to be working.

This product only came in Thai, so I had no idea what brand it was or what ingredients it contains, but I did love it. I've applied on my damp hair, and it smells amazing, it really hydrates and nourishes my hair, and when my hair was dry, it was super soft.

I know that I do have a few Thai readers out there, so if you came across this article, please let me know what this product is call, because I certainly intend to stock it up on my next trip to Thailand.

    Boots Botanics Leave-in Volumizing Conditioner

Contents: 250ml (8.4 us fl oz)
    Price: Bht195.00
    Local of Purchase: Boots Thailand

    According to Boot's webpage:

For fine, limp and lack lustre hair. Gives body and volume to hair without weighing it down. The lightweight spray moisturises and detangles. Hair looks and feels thicker.

Ingredients: Aqua, Polysorbate 20, Peg-40, hydrogenated castor oil, phenoxyethanol, parfum, polyquaternium-10, panthenol, benzophenone-4, sodium benzoate, sodium methylparaben, dipropylene glycol, citric acid, glycerin, citronellol, pentylene glycol, sodium acetate, sodium chloride, ruscus aculeatus extract, coumarin, isopropyl alcohol, lactid acid.

    My opinion:

While I was on holiday in Thailand last year, I forgot to bring my leave-in conditioner, so I've just pop into Boots and got this for my hair. Unfortunately, it did not work, it did not provide enough hydration, and my hair was still dry and coarse after using it.

I brought it back hoping that it might work in Hong Kong's climate, but I was really dissapointed, because it did not hydrate, did not detangles, it left my hair sticky and I did not like the scent.

I had this product for nearly a year, and have tried using it during different seasons, but it's still not working. Since I've been clearing my unused stuffs, I'll just try to use it up, but won't be buying it again.

Lux Super Damage Repair Black Diamond Energy Supply Essence

    Contents: 100ml
    Price: HKD49.90

    My Opinion:

This is a life saver product for me, while I was on holiday in Guam I forgot to bring my set of hair treatment products and was freaking out worrying about what would happen to my hair after I wash it.

The only hair product that I had with me was the Lux essence, and after washing my hair, I've smooth 1 squirt (more than this will leave my hair greasy) over my towel dry hair, and on the next day my hair was still manageble. Note: I have oily but really damage curly hair, a product that's too rich will flatten my hair while a product that's not rich enough will leave my hair unmanageable.

    容量: 100ml
    價錢: HKD49.90

Ice Cream Crystal Beauty Sealing Liquid Crystals

    Contents: 100ml / 3.38 fl oz
    Price: HKD128.00
    According to the package:

Restructuring liquid crystals, ideal for dry, frizzy and treated hair. Rich in Linseed Oil and Aloe Vera, which nourish and hydrate and leave hair looking glossy and easy to manage. Ideal for preventing the formation of split ends. Pleasant white melon fragrance.
Use: apply to dry hair to treat split ends and to damp hair to prevent the formation of split ends.

Ingredients: Cyclomethicone (Cyclopentasiloxane), Dimethiconol, Parfum (Fragrance), Hexyl Cinnamol, Benzl Alcohol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzl Salicylate, Linum Usitatissimum Oil (Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Oil), Limonene

    My opinion:
This is the only hair care product that could actually recuperate my chemically damaged hair. I'm always hunting for new hair care product (that's because I like to color/ straighten / perm my hair), but they either leave my hair greasy or just won't work for me...

This is basically a oil that I've been using for over 5 years (one bottle lasts me nearly a year). What I like to do is to apply 2 squirts on wet hair (although the instruction says to apply it on dry hair, it leaves my hair greasy).

Don't expect to see any immediate effects, but you'll notice a difference on a long term basis.

    容量: 100ml / 3.38 fl oz
    價錢: HKD128.00

O2 Hydramoist Aroma Ionic Series Elastic Treatment

    Contents: 450ml

    Price: HKD 580

    My Opinion:

This product is only available at professional salons, and I couldn't find any information about it online, meanwhile the package description only comes in Japanese (which I know nothing about it). I guess that I will only be able to tell you my opinion on this product.

Background info about my hair condition: I've got super dry hair due to constant chemical treatment, and for about 5 years I have never used a conditioner, I always use a hair treatment in the place of a conditioner.

My first impression about this product was its price, EXPENSIVE, I mean I've always stick with drugstore brands for hair treatments and it has never cost me more than HKD200, so I was kind of sceptical to try this out, but my stylist insisted that this will work, and I was hoping that I won't need to chop off my hair....

Let's forward in time, and after using 2 pack of this product I didn't see any improvement and I still had to chop off my hair....

Conclusion: I won't be buying this again, and I'll just stick with drugstore hair treatments.

Aquair Deep Moist Hair Treatment Lotion

    Contents: 220ml
    Price: HKD45.00

    According to the package:

Shiseido AQUAIR Deep Moist Hair Treatment Lotion deeply permeates the centre of hair and the damaged cuticles for an immediate moisturization and repair. It solves the problem of disheveled, dry hair. Hair becomes smooth, shiny and easy to comb.

With a clear floral scent, it keeps hair isolated from unpleasant smells such as the smell of cigarette
Ingredients: Water, Alcohol, Glycerine, Dipropylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Behentrimonium Chloride, Phystosteryl, Octyldodecyl Lauroyl, Glutamate, Sodium Glutamate, Arginine, Latic Acid, Aminopropyl, Dimethicone, Behenyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.
    My Opinion:
After I wash my hair, I always use a leave in conditioner before combing, because my hair is really dry and by applying some conditioners it appears to reduce breakage.
I'm not too fuzzy about leave in conditioners, as long as it smells nice and feels fresh (shouldn't weight down my hair or leave it oily) I'm good with it, and this product meets all my needs.

    My Opinion:
When I wake up in the morning my hair is all tangle up and there's no way that you can comb it without breaking something. What i usually do is no wet my hair and spray this all over it , this is the only way that I can comb my hair without breaking anything.

I've noticed that the instructions says that you are suppose o use this on dry hair, but I've only used in on wet/damp hair, I don't like to apply hair products on dry hair (it feels sticky)

    Salon 360º

Concentrated Hair Serum Capsules for Dry/ Damaged Hair
    Contents: 25 Capsules

    According to the package:

    Directions:
    Break seal.
Rub hair serum between palms and massage evenly to hair from roots to ends.

    My Opinion:
I got this about a year ago at watson's and it says in the bottle that it's exclusively available at watsons.
This serum is really great, it has improved my hair texture and it won't leave my hair greasy, but I've noticed that it is no longer available in Watsons. If anyone knows where to get it, please let me know, because i would love to get some more.
