Skinfood Lettuce and Cucumber Water Drop Essence

Contents: 45g
Price: HK$245.00

According to Skinfood's webpage:

Water-based, it relaxes tired skin with water-rich lettuce and cucumber extracts, collagen and vitamin ingredients. Provides long lasting hydration and moisture retention on the skin.

My Opinion:

Another item that has been sitting on my drawer for ages, and I've never got around using it.

I don't really understand why I've never been a huge fan of Skinfood's skincare, because after going thru the list of skinfood's skincare producs that I've tried, I've ended liking alot of it and have actually repurchased several of the face masks.

I think the main reason that I don't purchase from Skinfood is because I've been dissapointed with most of their makeup products, and that's why I've been stirring away from this brand.

Anyway back to this product, it has a gel texture that once you rub it into your skin it turns watery and it gets absorb almost instantly. Great product for the hot and humid summer days, it feels really light on the skin and I've been using this almost daily.

My only complain is the container, the pump sucks and it has stopped working after using it twice, I 've ended up pouring the product straight out of the container. I'm unsure if I got a bad bottle or if all container sucks, but overall this is a really good product.

SkinFood Lettuce and Cucumber Toner

Contents: 135ml
Price: HK$195

According to Skinfood's webpage:

A soft and fresh toner for moisturizing. Water rich lettuce and cucumber extracts provides moisture and vitamins, maintaining clean and clear skin.

Ingredients:  Water, Alcohol, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Hydrogenated lecithin, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Niacinamide, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Triethanol amine, Hydrolyzed lupine protein, Methicone, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Extract, Serenoa Serrulata Fruit Extract, Honey, Sesamum Indicum Seed Extract, Lettuce, Cucumis Sativus, Viola Tricolor Extract, Disodium EDTA, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Parfum.

My Opinion:
This is not your usual toner, this has a very thick texture which is more like a watery gel instead of water. I've started by applying it with my hands and hated the result, it took ages to absorb and it left my skin very sticky, I've set it aside and never touched it again.

Recently my skin was kind of dry, so I've started to use it again, and for this time I've decided to apply it with a cotton pad and the result was just amazing. My skin felt hydrated immediately after application, and seriously no toner has ever given me immediate hydration, I always though that was suppose to be the job of a serum.

Skin Food Black Sugar Mask

Contents: 100g
Price: HKD165.00

According to skinfood's webpage:

Enriched with minerals and vitamins, this face scrub effectively exfoliates dead skin that prevents makeup application, while revitalizing skin.

* Use:
After washing, apply desired amount onto face, avoiding eye and mouth areas.
Mix with water or toner to reduce skin irritation, and massage.
Wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then wash off with warm water.

Ingredients:  Glycerin, Sucrose, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Lanolin Wax, Stearalkonium hectorite, Sorbitan laurate, Shea Butter, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Caramel, Perfume, Butylparaben, Dibutylhydroxytoluene, macadamia nut oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride cetyl octanoate

My Opinion:

The first time that I've used this product, I though that the granules were too big and it was too harsh for my skin, but since I've used it in the shower, the granules started to melt within seconds and once they starts melting it wasn't really that harsh.

The amazing thing about this stuff is once you rinse it off, your skin will become really soft. I've really liked this mask not for its exfoliating effects but because it leaves my skin super soft. Will definetly repurchase.

After essence, apply emulsion and rub gently with palms to absorb.

Ingredients: WATER, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, ALCOHOL, CYCLOMETHICONE, ISOSTEARYL NEOPENTANOATE, BIS-PEG-18, METHYL ETHER DIMETHYL SILANE, CUCUMIS SATIVUS (CUCUMBER) FRUIT EXTRACT, C14-22 ALCOHOLS, C12-20 ALKYL GLUCOSIDE, GLYCOL STEARATESE, BETA-GLUCAN, LACTUCA SCARIOLA SATIVA (LETTUCE) LEAF EXTRACT, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, STEARIC ACID, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, METHICONE, STEARYL GLYCYRRHETINATE, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL EXTRACT, SERENOA SERRULATA FRUIT EXTRACT, SESAMUM INDICUM (SESAME) SEED EXTRACT, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, VIOLA TRICOLOR EXTRACT, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, ALLANTOIN, STEARYL GLYCYRRHETINATE, DISODIUM EDTA, IMIDAZOLIDYNYL UREA, METHYLPARABEN, CI 42090, CI 15985, PARFUM.
My Opinion:

I've got this from my sister in law, so before I start with my review, I think I should thank her first " Thanks Janet" .

Now back to the product, I have never been a fan of emulsion, because I find that it takes ages to be absorbed by my skin, and this skin food emulsion was not an exception, it takes at least 2-3 minutes before it's fully absorbed.

I've been using this emulsion for the whole summer, and I'm nearly finishing the bottle, and although it takes ages to be absorbed, I was actually very satisfy with it, it provides the right amount of moisturise without leaving my face oily, it didn't break me out and it works well under sunscreen and makeup.

生菜清瓜水樣清爽乳液
容量:135ml
價錢:HKD215.00

Skin Food Milk Smooth Body Lotion

Contents: 230ml
Price: HK$100 (it was a free gift while I was shopping in skin food store)

According to the package:

Milk has been used by a beauty as Cleopatra because, it is rich in nourishing vitamins A & D plus skin-softening proteins, lactic acid and lactose. It maks skin soft, smooth and purified.

This product is especially formulated for dry, sensitive skin.

To use: gently massage some amount of product over dry body.

My Opinion:

This version is no longer available, skin food has a new version with honey added to it.

I'm not a huge fan of this product, because it does leave a film over my skin after application and it take ages to absorb, I've tried to use it after shower while my skin was still damp and it did improved slightly. I'm still using it, mainly because this body lotion smells delicious (vanilla scented), but I don't think I'll be buying it again.

Skinfood Grape Seed Oil anti-wrinkle neck cream

Contents: 50g
Price: HK$105

According to skinfood's webpage:
It is an intensive neck cream producing an excellent firming effect. Rich in grape seed oil with anti-aging vitamin E and essential fatty acids helps to hydrate the skin and keeps it suppled
How to use:
Apply desired amount on neck in an upward motion. Repeat motion until the cream is completely absorbed.
My Opinion:
I got this mainly for fun, because I don't really believe that you need an extra cream for your neck. I usually just apply whatever I'm using on the face to my neck as well.
This neck cream smells delicious, but that's just about it. I didn't really notice any changes on my neck skin texture. I think this is just gimmicks.

SkinFood Aloe Sun BB Pact

Contents: 14g
Shade: #1 Bright Skin Color
Price: HKD215

Product Description:
A sun protection BB pact with water emulsion formula. As a simple solution for base makeup, its refreshing feeling and satin finish enhance its wear, creating a more natural and translucent skin tone.
Aloe Sun BB pact comes in a round shaped airless/airtight container. After turning the lid counterclockwise, open the lid and place an adequate amount on the puff. Then, pat the wider areas of the face and evenly spread out onto the entire face
My opinion:
If you guys read my review on skinfood bb cream, you would know that I'm not a huge friend of skingfood bb cream, mainly because their shades are just not right for me.
Anyway, I was persuaded again by the saleslady to get this (I got this ages ago, and I don't think this is available anymore), and was told that I could keep this in my bag and use it for touch up.
Conclusion: wrong shade and never use it....

Skinfood Lettuce and Cucumber Massage

Contents: 150ml
Price: HKD$175

According to Skinfood's webpage:

This is an oil-free type fresh massage gel with lettuce and cucumber extracts, provides water and nutrients to your skin. Rolling movement in massaging facilitates blood circulation on the skin making your skin relaxed, and its contents are absorbed after rolling, so the skin becomes more elastic.

Direction:

After toner, apply to the whole face excluding eye and lip area and slightly massage until fully absorbed. Two or three times per week.

My opinion:

I'm a very lazy person , and the reason why I like this product is because it is a very light gel that absorbs within a minute of massage. I can't stand spending a lot of time massaging my face.

Skin Food BB Cream

Before I start reviewing this product, I'm not sure if everyone is aware what BB cream is, so though I might give you a brief explanation.

According to wikipedia:

BB cream, also known as Blemish Balm or Blemish Base, is a cosmetic item sold in Korea.

BB cream started out as a therapeutic moisturizer in Germany used to treat the irritated skin of the patients who went under peeling, laser, or microdermabrasion.

There are several BB Cream brands, but all products have slight differences in properties, ingredients, smell, texture and oil control.

General BB Cream characteristics:
  • Natural glow on your face without makeup look
  • Provides perfect coverage just like a foundation but without clogging pores or damaging the skin
  • Conceals all types of pigmentation, discoloration, acne and marks
  • Healing properties which soften, smoothen and refine skin
  • Encourages skin regeneration to create and maintain youthful skin
  • UV Protection for healthy skin
  • Some BB creams have additional features such as wrinkle improvement, whitening functions etc.
Contents: 50g
Price: HK$195 (Aloe) HK$175 (Gingko)
Shade: #2

Left: Aloe Right: Gingko

Left: Gingko Right: Aloe

According to Skinfood's Webpage:
Aloe Sun BB Cream SPF 20 PA
An excellent soothing treatment with UV protection (SPF20 PA++), it especially suits people with sensitive skin. This cream leaves skin feeling moisturized while it corrects skin tone for a naturally air-brushed complexion.

Gingko Green BB Cream
A moisturizing base made with the essential ingredients of green tea, ginkgo leaf, Vitamin B and lecithin for nutritional benefits to the skin. Provides light coverage. Suitable for all skin types.

Instructions:
Apply as a foundation or as a base before your foundation

My Opinion:
I like using BB cream, especially when I'm in a hurry, you don't need any technique to apply it (I apply it like a face cream), there's no blending or anything like that.
My only complain about Skin food BB cream is their shade selection, it only comes in 2 shades (#1 light skin and #2 Natural)
I've got both tubes in Shade 1, but the Gingko one is a lot lighter than the Aloe one. As a NC25, Gingko shade 1 is too light for me, while the aloe one is still a bit light.

Skin Food Lemon Foundation

Skin Food Lemon Foundation for normal & combination skin

It says in the bottle:

This foundation contains lemon oil to fresh skin texture. This NEW formula adjusts to skin's needs by minimizing oil and shine in oilier areas like the T-zone, while hydrating dry areas as needed

Contents: 30ml or 1.0 fl. oz.

Shade: #23

I had this for quiet sometime, and the bottle is still full, because this foundation really sucks, it only comes in 2 shades and I got the darker one which turns all orange on me. Unless you like having an orange face, I can't imagine anybody enjoy using this.

I've been to the skin food webpage trying to locate this product, but I think this is no longer available (luckily).

Luminescent Complexion Enhancer

Sheer fluid, Glow Enhancer, Shine Base, Liquid Highlighter..... This stuffs comes in all sorts of different names, but they all serve basically the same purpose, i.e. to brighten up your complexion. I know that some people use this to accent their cheeckbones and brow bones, but for such purpose I prefer powders, therefore I mainly mix this stuffs with my foundation for the dewy look.

I don't usually use skin enhancers during the summer, because after several hours my whole face will be shinning, and if you have oily skin stay away from this. But I love it for the winter, especially if you have dull skin like mine, it will brighen up your complexion.

These are the glow enhancers that I have (these have been sorted according to their prices, the cheapest one on the right and the most expensive one on the left):

Apart from these, I've heard some ravings about benefit's high beam and moon beam, but as you can see I've already have enough enhancer to last me for several years (you only need a tiny bit each time), so there's no point in getting anymore, but if I ever finish these, I might want to try the ones from benefits.

SKIN FOOD LIME SECRET SHINE BASE

It says in the bottle:

Subtle pink and gold highlights add a natural glow to the complexion. This pearl liquid highlighter leaves a dewy finish, with or without make up. Use it everywhere for natural-looking luminosity.

Contents: 30g or 1.0 oz.

This stuff is colorless, when mix with your foundation it'll give you that dewy look. So far my favorite, because it's lemon scented and I love it, but if you don't like your makeup with fragrance, stay away from it.

Skin Food is a Korean product.

EYEKO CREAM

According to Eyeko's webpage:

Create a flawless base with Eyeko's 3-in-1 Cream MOISTURISER, HIGHLIGHTER & EYE CREAM in 1!Infused with skin perfecting light reflectors and antioxidant Vitamins A& E plus a Vitamin C boost for a radiant, clear complexion.

Contents: 36ml or 1.27 fl oz
Price: US$9

It says in the box that it is Created in London and Made in Taiwan.

I've got mine from eyeko.com, with 20% off and free shipping. If you google it I'm sure that you'll find someone's ambassador code that'll give you a discount or free gift.

Amongst all my luminizer, this has the thickest texture, but don't ever think of using it as a skincare product like it claims, because if you use it all over your face as a moisturizer you'll end up looking like a disco ball and as a eye cream it provides 0 hydration. Personnaly I only use it as a luminizer by mixing a tiny bit of it with my foundation/tinted moisturizer/BB cream.

THE BODY SHOP TINTED GLOW ENHANCER

According to The Body Shop webpage, this product falls into the Bronzing catogory and it says:
A lightweight, moisturising liquid formulation that provides a natural-looking sheer radiance that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, even out skin tone and instantly brighten the complexion. It can be worn alone as an alternative to foundation, or applied over foundation to add a subtle sheen to the face and body. Dermatologically tested.

Size: 25ml
Price: HK$125 or £10.75

This comes in 3 shades: 01light, 02 medium and 03dark, and mine is in 01. While the other 2 luminizer that I've already discussed is colorless, this one is slightly tinted, and I like to use it when I'm pale, i.e. right now.

Ingredients: Aqua, Octyl Palmitate, Cyclomethicone, Mica, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylat/Dicaprate, Glycerin, Sclerocarya birrea, Methyl Methacrytate, Crosspolymer, Silica, Steareth-2, Phenoxyethanol, Steareth-20, Benzyl Alcohol, Boron Nitride, Tocopheryl Acetate, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, Methylparaben, Panthenol, Ceteareth-20, Dimethicone, Phenyl Methicone, Sodium Acrylate/Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Propylparaben, Isohexadecane, Xanthan Gum, Butylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Ethylparaben, Polysorbate 80, Isobudlparaben, Sodium Hyaluronate, Talc, Sorbitan Oleate.

GIORGIO ARMANI FLUID SHEER

  • sheer, lightweight texture and coverage
Application techniques: Apply with the blender brush to wear alone or mixed with foundation for a boost of radiance and color. Use on top of foundation for added highlighting and contouring.

Price:US$58

It says in the box that is Dermatologist Tested and Non Comedogenic

Ingredients: Aqua/Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Isododecane, Alcohol, Polycyceryl-4 Isostearate, Cetyl Peg/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Phenoxyethanol, acetylated Glycolstearate, Magnesium Sulfate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Tristearin, Cellulose Gum, Nylon-12, Limonene, Benzyl Salicytate, Linalool, Dipheny Dimethicone, Acrylates Copolymer, Parfum/Fragrance, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Butyphenyl, Methylpropional, Aluminium Strach Octenyisuccinate, Aluminium Hydroxide, Hexyl Cinnamal

This comes in 10 shades, and the one that i have is #2 - shimmering beige.

I've got this while I was getting the foundation and the primer, the sales lady insisted that I will need the fluid sheer as well. This one actually has some kind of golden shimmery in it, while all the other products that I've reviewed before will only give you a glow.

Although this was the most expensive, I didn't really like it, I'm not into shimmery stuffs, but I guess this would look really good for a evening out.
