Ingredients:

Inactive Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isododecane, Glycerin, Cyclohexasiloxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Isoeicosane, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Cetyl PEG, 1 Dimethicone, PPG-10, Sodium Chloride, C9-15 Fluoroalcohol Phosphate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Hexyl Laurate, Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Tocopherol, Panthenol, May Contain: Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide

My Opinion:

This is a love hate product, because the color match was perfect, I've liked the coverage and texture, but there was only one problem, BREAK OUTS.

I've used this product 4 times and everytime a acne will surface on the next day around my cheeks, an area which I don't usually break out.

For the first 2 times, I though that it was hormonal, so I've waited for it to cleared up before trying again, but it was still the same, I would break out again.

Although I've really liked this product I ended giving it away, because it just didn't work for me.

Giorgio Armani Maestro

Shade: 2
Contents: 30ml
Price: HK$630.00

According to Armani's webpage:

Benefits:
A formula that is easy to apply with unified distribution, and covers imperfections. An ultra-fine oil-pigment suspension that perfects the complexion, instantly igniting skin’s natural luminosity. A water and powder-free base.
Technology:
An unforgettable and unique texture created by patented Fusion Technology. The Fusion makeup technology delivers the thinnest color film that blends perfectly and corrects skin imperfections without buildup.
Application Tips:
  •  Shake the bottle and put three drops in the palm of your hand.
  • In rapid and fluid movements, spread the foundation out from the center of face to the edges. Make sure to concentrate the application in the center of the face where most imperfections are found.
  • Blend from the center of forehead to the temples, from the nose, across the cheeks towards the ears, and then from the chin, up along the jaw line
My Opinion:

I got this during the winter and never got around using it, because this product is not for dry skin (although I do not have dry skin), I was unable to use this during the winter, I clings to any dry patches that you have, even though I wasn't aware that I had any dry patches.

Recently I got this out again and finally started to enjoy it. First off, this is a really light foundation, and it was so light that sometimes I even forgot that I was wearing makeup. Although is light you can layer it, I usually wear 1 thin layer all over and add a second layer on the center of my face. It evens out any redness and it blurs out the pores.

For the 1st half an hour this might look a bit cakey, and the strangest thing about this foundation is that the longer it stays on your skin the better it looks. It melts into your skin.

In terms of color matching, I think their shades are very forgiving, and although I got this in shade 2, I could have gotten away with a few other shades as well.

Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Cover Stick

Shade: 564
Contents: 11g / 0.38oz
Price: HK$290.00

According to Shu Uemura's webpage:

A new stick version of shu uemura's cult favorite, Nobara Cream Foundation, formulated to give the instant high coverage of a concealer with the smooth glide of a foundation.

Ingredients: dimethicone neopentyl glycol dicaprate isotridecyl isononanoate synthetic wax ceresin talc diisostearyl malate sorbitan sesquioleate phytosteryl/octyldodecyl lauroyl glutamate alumina aluminum hydroxide tocopherol canola oil [+/- may contain ci 77891 / titanium dioxide ci 77491, ci 77499, ci 77492 / iron oxides mica]

My Opinion:

While I was researching for this product I came across Karla Sugar's blog and got some interesting info about the numeration of Shu's foundation:

The first digit tells you how pink or yellow the foundation is: 1 is the most pink; 9 is the most yellow; 5 is neutral. The second digit goes from black to white. A second digit of 0 has the most black/is the darkest; a second digit of 9 is the lightest. The third digit tells you chroma — whether the undertone of the foundation is blue or violet)

Back to the product, personally I love stick foundation, because it's super convenient and easy to travel with, however, most of them tend to be pretty dry. After reading lots of raves about Nobara I got one to try out, and personally I still think that this is kind of dry, but definetly better than the others stick foundation that I've tried.

What I've been doing it layering this on top of my By Terry Eclat de Rose Sheer Tinted Moisturizer (which provides 0 coverage, but I have every intention to finish the tube because it has costs me lots of $$$). I don't use this all over my face, only in trouble areas (i.e. center of my face), and have been loving the results.

My only advise is not to apply this under your eyes, because it will dry out your under eye area and all the lines will just show thru (not an attractive look).

Jane Iredale PurePressed Base

Contents: 9.9g /.35oz
Shade: Amber

This is actually my second purepressed based from Jane Iredale, so for products details please check out my previous post.

I remember really hating this product, but a friend of mine wanted to try a mineral powder and she didn't wanted to get it online and the only decent mineral foundation available here in Macau is Jane Iredale, so we had to go to the store.

I must have mentioned before that I'm hopeless with sales people, I always ended getting something I don't need, and there was no exeption for this time...

The lady insisted that I got the last one in the wrong shade and I needed to give this product another try. For this time I got it in the right shade, but I have been mainly using it as a setting powder and it seems to be working fine, but I'm still unable to use this as a foundation because it emphasizes all my flaws, i.e. pores and lines, if I use this as a foundation, it ages me. Can someone tell me how to make this product work????

My Opinion:

I've liked the texture and the coverage of this foundation, but the shade that I've chosen was just off, 130 was too orange and too dark for me (currently NC25), I've already given it away, but I'm tempted to get this in another shade to try it out.

Makeup Disaster

This 3 products together was a disaster:
The Majolica Primer did not work with the Maybelline foundation, the foundation just wouldn't blend on top of the primer and the balling up was pretty bad. I've used these 2 items separately and never had any problems.

The powder gave me the biggest irritation ever, I had it on for about 30 minutes and was itching all over the place.

I had to wash everything off and ended up giving the powder away.

Ingredients: Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide (7.3%) Inactive Ingredients: Aqua/Water (Water), Cyclomethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Butylene Glycol, Boron Nitride, Dimethicone, SD Alcohol 40B, PEG/PPG 18/18 Dimethicone, Nylon 12, Tribehenin, Isododecane, Polyisobutene, Sodium Chloride, Cetyl PEG/PPG 10/1 Dimethicone, Bisabolol, Serica (Silk Powder), Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Malva Sylvestris Flower Extract (Mallow), Lilium Candidum Bulb Extract (Lily), Lactobacillus/Eridictyon Californicum Ferment Extract, Cymbidium Grandiflorum Flower Extract, Alumina, Polydimethylsiloxane/Polymethysilesquioxane Copolymer, Ethylene Brassylate, Methicone, Trisiloxane, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, May Contain (+/-): Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499)

My Opinion:

This review is for the Japanese version of the colorstay that comes with a pump. I've recently seen in the comercials that there was a newer version here in Hong Kong, but I'm not sure if they have the same formula.

It appears that nearly everyone on youtube loves this foundation, and it kills me to admit that I did not like it at all. I had this bottle since 2009 and have only used it a couple of times, it has started to separate and I guess that it's going to the bin after this review.

The reason why I don't like it is because it feels really heavy on the skin and it clogs my pores, it just feels unconfortable on the skin.

My Opinion:
I'm kind of late in this foundation, but since everyone on youtube seems to love it, I had to give it a go.

So far I've used this twice and I'm sure that I've got it in the wrong shade, because it was way too dark for my skintone (I'm currently NC20), and I'm not sure if I actually like the texture to get it in another shade.

I've got oily skin, and this foundation just seems to slide and glide everywhere. I've tried to set it with a powder but it was still transferring everywhere. I'll give this another go and if I still don't like it, you'll find it at my February's toss away product list.

My Opinion:

Another great foundation that has been discontinued.

This is a low-medium coverage mineral base foundation, with a moussy texture that instantly matifies your skin. This is my favorite summer foundation, because it doesn't melt, is super light and it doesn't transfer.

My Opinion:
The only good thing I have to say about this product is the color match, it was perfect, but apart from the color it was just horrible.

When I've first apply this product I fell in love with the texture, it was super light, but after about an hour the foundation has started to separate and oxidize, especially around my nose and chin area (it was not attractive).

I've started to use a primer underneath, and I've postpone the separation time for about an hour or two, but I was still a grease ball around lunch time. I've tried several primers and powders but was still unable to make this product work.

I've got this foundation during the summer when I was about NC25-30sh, but in the bottle NARS Fiji appears to be lighter than Mac NC20.

After swatching them side by side Fiji is slightly darker than NC20

My Opinion:
This is my 4th Mac foundation, and so far I've tried MAC Studio Sculpt SPF15 Foundation (hate it), MAC Studio Tech Foundation (like it) and Mac Select SPF15 (toss it). I'm not in love with any of these foundation, and I haven't repurchase any of those.

I keep on trying new foundation hoping that I might be able to find "the perfect foundation" for myself, but I'm still searching....

Well I've got Mac Studio Fix Fluid mainly for mixing, because I'm usually a NC30 in the summer and NC25 in the winter, and since most of my foundations are slightly too dark for me in the winter, I got this in NC20 to mix.

I've never been lighter than NC25, but recently I found that most of my foundation were too dark for me, so I got this out and decided to use it alone, and *bam* it was the right shade.....

I was expecting this to be the same as Mac Select SPF15, but have noticed that Studio Fix Fluid has got more coverage and it doesn't oxidizes as much as Mac Studio Fix Fluid. I think I like this foundation but not enough to repurchase.

Foundation Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Titanium Dioxide, Ethylhexyl, Methoxycinnamate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Isododecane, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Arbutin, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Zinc Oxide, Sodium Chloride, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Sorbitan Isostearate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Dimethicone/PEG-110/15 Crosspolymer, Stearic Acid, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Acrylates/Ethylhexylacrylate/Dimethicone Methacrylate Copolymer, Polyperfluoroethoxymethoxy Difluoromethyldistearamide, Triethoxycaprylysilane, Propylene Carbonate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Beeswax, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucosedistearate, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide MEA, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Polyglutamic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, CI77492, CI77491, CI77499, Fragrance.

My Opinion:
This foundation comes in 4 shade and I got the second lightest shade which initially was a good match for my NC25 skin tone, but after about an hour it oxidizes, and it has turn a shade too dark for me.

This is a very hydrating foundation, but I found the coverage to be pretty low, even some of my BB creams has got greater coverage than this. Personally I would never consider this a foundation but more of a tinted moisturizer...

Although I didn't really like the foundation, I kind of like the highligther, I usually tend to favor liquids for the winter and powder for spring/autumm, and I do stay away from highlighters in the summer, because it tends to make me look greasy....). I've never tried cream highlighters before, and I love the effect, it's easy to control and it makes me glow (not glitter ball), but a very healthy glow.

According to Make Up For Ever's webpage:

The Mat Velvet + foundation conceals skin imperfections, evens out the complexion and matifies with a non-oily powdery finish. The result is flawless and lasts for hours long. Its smooth, fluid texture is very stable, water-resistant and long-lasting. While it has a good coverage, it is also easy to apply. The end result can be fitted to your needs. Applied lightly, Mat Velvet + provides a natural, matte look to the complexion. Using several layers to help conceal blemishes creates a supple and elastic velvety finish. This new oil-free and non comedogenic formula is suited to sensitive skins.

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Aqua (Water), Corn Starch Modified, Bis-PEG/PPG-14/14 Dimethicone, Neopentyl Glycol Diethylhexanoate, Glycerin, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Mica, Magnesium Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Propylene Carbonate, Propylparaben, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Chlorphenesin, Methylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Parfum (Fragrance), Cyclohexasiloxane, Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Citronellol, Geraniol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone. May Contain: CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491(Iron Oxides), CI 77492 (Iron Oxides), CI 77499 (Iron Oxides).

My Opinion:
I've got really oily skin during the summer and with Hong Kong's humidity, I just don't like to wear foundation, everthing just melt off, so  after watching TiffanyD raving about it on Youtube, I had to give it a try.

I'm not sure if my review about this product would be bias, because I've only shopped at MUFE once and was really dissapointed with their sales assistant.

Don't get me wrong, the guy that was helping me out was really nice and not pushy at all, that's why I got the shades that he recommended, together with the foundation I got 2 more HD blushes, and all these 3 items were in the wrong shades....

The blushes were unflattering and the foundation was slightly too yellow, too dark and dull, overall all these items just didn't look good on me.

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Shade: 5 - Light Beige

According to Giorgio Armani Beauty webpage:

As seen in the press, capture the glow of perfect skin with this award-winning foundation. Luminous Silk foundation features an exclusive Micro-fil technology. So weightless, it redefines foundation. Its hydrating fluid glides on seamlessly with a silky texture and all-day, buildable coverage. For all skin types.

Ingredients: Aqua, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Isododecane, Alcohol, Polyglyceryl-4 isostearate, Aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Phenoxyethanol, Acetylated glycol stearate, Magnesium sulfate, Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, Tristearin, Cellulose gum, Nylon-12, Limonene, Benzyl salicylate, Linalool, Diphenyl dimethicone, Acrylates Copolymer, Parfum, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Aluminum hydroxide, Hexyl Cinnamal, CI77891, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77491, CI 77007, Mica

My Opinion:

I've mixed feelings for this foundation, and I really need to list out the pros and cons to explain it.

Pros:
  1. Perfect shade, I had never had such a perfect color match
  2. Medium coverage (is a pro for me)
  3. Easy application
  4. Light formula
Cons:
  1. Doesn't work well without a primer, I've tried wearing it alone, it oxidizes and leaves my skin very oily.
After evaluating the pros and cons, most people would consider this a catch, but personally I don't like to put too many layers of product on my skin, and I usually skip primers, so it has been a pain for me to remember to wear a primer everyday, otherwise, I'll just look like a grease ball by midday.

My Opinion:

I've got this product for free while I was shopping at Lush, and since this was a free gift, they didn't let me choose the shade and I was stuck with this light peachy shade which I though it would be useless for me, because I've been told that I have really strong yellow undertones....

Although the shade didn't match, I've still wanted to try it out, and was really surprise that apart from being slightly to light, it matches me really well with really good coverage (I'll say it has medium coverage). I never had a foundation that made my skin look so good and healthy.

Overall I was really impressed with this product and will definetly repurchase.
