Flat Top Kabuki Brushes

I've always wanted to review my brushes, but I could never figure out where to start or how to organize them, so today I've decided to review the brushes that I used the most, and that's the flat top kabuki, I used them daily because I use them for my foundation, bb creams, minerals, basically I always use a flat top kabuki for my base makeup.

 

e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush

Material: Synthetic haired Taklon

Amongst all of my flat top brushes, this was the cheapest, but it isn't as densely packed or as soft as the ones below, and this brush does shed. I'm on my 3rd brush, because the last 2 fell apart after wash.  

Coastal Scents Bionic Flat Top Buffer
Material: Synthetic Bristles

This is my favorite flat top, it's very dense, very soft and it doesn't shed. The reason why I like it the best is because it has the biggest brush head and it really speeds up my application time. I have 2 of those that I rotate and I only use them for liquid foundations, I had them for nearly 2 years and they're still doing fine.

 

Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki

I find the Sigma flat top kabuki to be really similar to the Coastal Scent's one, the only difference is the brush head size, which is slightly smaller and I prefer bigger flat top kabukis.

Sonia Kashuk Synthetic Flat Top Multipurpose Brush
Material: Synthetic Nylon
Price: US$15.79

The Sonia Kashuk Synthetic Flat Top has the chicest brush handle, but it has the smallest brush head, and I find that it takes forever for me to blend the foundation with this brush.

Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush
Material: Synthetic Hair
Price: US$12.99

I mainly use this brush for powder or mineral foundations, because I find the hair to be longer than the above mentioned brushes and it works better with powders.

Jane Iredale The Handi Brush
Material: Goat Hair

This is actually my first flat top, and the most expensive one. I got this together with the Jane Iredale foundation. Back then I was still new to mineral makeup and was told that this brush works best with minerals.

 

I hardly use this anymore, because I prefer synthetic brushes, and natural hair brushes are harder to take care of.

My Opinion:

I wasn't sure about my shade, so I've ordered this in light, medium and the color corrector as well. Unfortunately, 2 of those came melted, but luckily, the one that was intact was actually the right shade (medium).

I've written to coastal scents and they've arranged for a credit, so I'm pretty satisfied with their customer services.

Regarding the product, this is a very creamy concealer with good pigmentation, but you definetly have to set it with a powder, otherwise it'll run and crease.

發現兩件產品融了後即時通知Coastal Scents，而他們亦即時退款，對於他們的售後服務非常滿意。

至於這個遮瑕膏，質好似忌廉，而且色素都幾深，但用後一定要用粉訂妝否則會起紋。

HAUL MADNESS II

After these 2 posts, I guess you all would agree that I do need to go for "No Buy".

I've decided to split my purchases in the following categories:

• Makeup - definetly NO BUY
• Skincare - I'm allow to replace stuffs that I've finished
• Body and Haircare - I'm allow for replace

Coastal Scents Palette

I've named this article as Coastal Scents Palette because these palettes are commonly known and referred as the CS Palette, but please note that NONE OF THESE PALETTES WERE ACQUIRED FROM COASTAL SCENTS, in fact, some of these are not even available in the Coastal Scents Webpage.

Contour Palette

This Palette is different form the CS Contour and Blush Palette, the CS one comes with 2 blushes, while this palette only comes with contour and hightlight shades.

88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow Palette Pan size: 1.5cm

88 Piece Makeup Palette

This Palette comes with matte, satin and slight shimmer eyeshadows.

28 Piece Eye Shadow Neutral Palette

This palette comes in a assortment of neutral tones in shimmer and matte. In comparison with the 88 palettes, these are less pigmented, but so far this is my favorite eyeshadow palette (a lot of the colors in this palette are actually dupes of Mac shadows).

28 Blush Palette

This palette is not available in the CS webpage.

All these colors are super pigmented, even the lightest shade needs to be applied with a skunk brush. Since these comes in 2.5cm pans, it makes it kind of hard to dip in with my MAC187, I can only use this with my MAC188 or my EDM baby kabuki (why did EDM have to discontinue this item?).

10 Piece Professional Blush Palette

Just like the 28 blush palette, all these are super pigmented, and they come in pan size of 3.5cm.

I'm a NC25 and all these colors are wearable.
