My Opinion:

I was actually kind of surprise after using this product, because I've never really had much luck with L'oreal's skincare.

The morning after using this, I always notice brighter skin, and if I don't use it my skin looks dull.

Although this is an anti aging product, I've been using this for 3 weeks and I did not notice any anti aging effect, but it does improve skin tone.

My Opinion:

This is a love hate product, because the color match was perfect, I've liked the coverage and texture, but there was only one problem, BREAK OUTS.

I've used this product 4 times and everytime a acne will surface on the next day around my cheeks, an area which I don't usually break out.

For the first 2 times, I though that it was hormonal, so I've waited for it to cleared up before trying again, but it was still the same, I would break out again.

Although I've really liked this product I ended giving it away, because it just didn't work for me.

November 2013 Sample Attack

Although I've claimed that I do not intend to review samples on a monthly basis, I've recently found out that I had a drawer full of samples and I really do need to use them up. I though I might as well document it so that I can consult my blog on my next shopping trip.

Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum - £127.00 / 25ml
No. of trials: 2

I was skeptical about snake serums, but I was also skeptical about snail skincare products, and now they are basically part of my daily beauty regime.
I've tried this twice and fell in love with the scent, it's the best citrusy scent that I've ever smell, but the product itself didn't really do much for me. I went to check out the rating for this product on makeupalley and it was pretty low, and since this product appears to be really expensive (retails for 127 pounds) I think I'll just skip it, but I might try out the Korean version which seems to be alot more affordable.

L'oreal Revitalift White Advanced Anti-Wrinkle & Spot Corrector Day Cream SPF18 - HK$189/50ml
No. of trials: 10

Although this is a day cream, it feels really thick and heavy on the skin, I've been applying a really thin layer and it stills feels heavy.

La Roche Posay Uvidea XL Cream Procelain SPF50 - HK$280/30ml
No. of trials: 3

Another product that feels super heavy on the skin, but I found that there is a lighter version, so I might want to try that next.

Swiss Program Caviar Lifting Eye Contour Cream - HK$747/15ml
No. of trials: 2

The lady at SASA was really generous by giving me 5 packets of this product which amounts to 10ml of products, unfortunately this didn't work for me, after using it only twice I've started to develop milia underneath my eyes, so I've stopped using it immediately.

Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Body Lotion - HK$225/8.5fl oz
No. of trials: 3 weeks

I had several tubes of this product, because it was included in the bathroom amenities of the hotel that I've stayed on my last trip. This is a really light lotion, and I think it'll only work for someone with really oily skin, it feels very watery and it gets absorbed almost instantly. This wasn't moisturizing enough for me.

ROC Multi-Correxion Anti-Age Moisturiser - HK$400/50ml
No. of trials: 1 week

It appears that most of the skincare products that I've tried this month were all too heavy for my taste, and this is another product that felt heavy, and it left my skin shiny.

Loreal Youth Code Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream

I got this product in a set (L'oreal Youth Code Duo ), in which I have already review the face cream, and for other product details please check out my previous post.

My Opinion:

I've been using Missha - MISA Geum Sul Eye Cream as my night time eye cream, but this was becoming too rich for the summer, and I wanted something lighter.

The L'oreal Youth Code Eye Cream although is call a cream, it actually has a moussy texture and it feels really light. This products absorbs really fast and it does provide a decent amount of hydration, overall I've really liked the products from the Youth code series and I think I might try out the serum as well.

L'oreal Go 360 Clean Anti-Imperfection Facial Cleanser

Contents: 178ml / 6 fl oz
Price: HK$62.20
Local of Purchase: Mannings

According to L'oreal's webpage:

Break free of breakouts with this clear complexion secret. Introducing the Go 360° Clean Anti-Breakout Facial Cleanser designed to fight acne with deep pore-by-pore cleansing. The formula with 2% salicylic acid works with the Super-Soft Scrublet™ to control breakouts and clear blackheads. Now, you can clean deeper than traditional cleansing ever could before with L’Oréal’s most powerful acne-fighting formula + The Scrublet™.

Clinically-Proven Results to significantly decrease the number of blemishes, blackheads and acne.

Ingredients: SALICYLIC ACID, WATER, SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, GLYCERIN, COCO-BETAINE, MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) LEAF EXTRACT, PEG-150 PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRASTEARATE, ZINC GLUCONATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, SODIUMHYDROXIDE, CAPRYLOYL SALICYLIC ACID, TETRASODIUM EDTA, CITRIC ACID, PENTASODIUM ETHYLENEDIAMINE TETRAMETHYLENE PHOSOPHONATE, MENTHOL, POLYQUATERNIUM-47, FRAGRANCE

My Opinion:

This product is call L'oreal Go 360 Anti-Breakout Facial Cleanser in the States, although different names I thing they are the same product.

I usually stick with Japanese drugstore cleansers, because it cleanses my skin without breaking my wallet, but I've decided to try this out because I've really liked the L'oreal go 360 Clean Deep Exfoliating Scrub, but unfortunately I didn't like this cleanser at all.

The scent was horrible, and I didn't like the feeling that there was something still on my skin after rinsing.

Sample Attack Round III

This is my third article about samples, and I'm not trying to make this into a monthly article, but I've been travelling more frequently than usual, and since I've accumulated a huge amount of samples (gift with purchase), I really need to use them up.

Garnier Light Gentle Clarifying Foam - HK$39.90 / 100ml
No. of trials: 8

This cleanser smells very fresh (great to wake me up in the morning), it doesn't leave any residue after cleansing but is slightly drying, better suited for the summer or for someone with oily skin (moi). Might consider getting this in full size during Summer.

L'oreal Hydrafresh Anti-Shine Fresh Purifying Icy Foam - HK$75.00 / 100ml
No. of trials: 5

This is a gel cleanser that leaves a cooling sensation on your skin even after you rinse it off, I think this will be a really fresh cleanser for the hot summer days, but since I had a skin reaction with a similar product before, I wouldn't risk getting this in full size. Please note that I did not have any skin reaction after using this product, but I still think that the Garnier Cleanser is better.

Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo - HK$98.00 / 385ml
No. of trials: 6

This shampoo is really good for dry hair, it left my hair smooth and hydrated, but for some unknown reasons I just can't stand the scent of coconut.

Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 Anti-Aging Moisturizer - HK$179.90 / 50ml
No. of trials: 6

I love this moisturizer, it absorbs really fast, it feels light on the skin yet it still moisturizes. Now the question is Why do I keep buying high end skin care products when I almost always like the products that I've tried from Olay?

Nuxe Reve de Miel Hand And Nail Cream
No. of trials: 12

This hand cream absorbs really fast and it doesn't leave your hands greasy, actually it feels really matte (I'm not sure if I'm making any sense). However I didn't really like it mainly because of the floral scent.

My Opinion:

Since I got them, I've been obsessed with these stains, although they feel like a gloss (glossy finish) they are actually a very pigmented lip stain.

The gloss on top will rub off, but the stain stays for the whole day, I'm definetly going to get more of these.

Only complain, the color runs darker on your lips, can't rely on swatches.

L'oreal Color Infallible

Top Row: 001 Time Resist White and 004 Forever Pink
Bottom Row: 009 Permanent Kaki and 015 FlashBack Silver

From left to right:
001 Time Resist White, 009 Permanent Kaki, 004 Forever Pink, 015 FlashBack Silver

Contents: 3.5g @
Price: HK$62 - HK$89
Local of Purchase: Sasa and Watsons

I got these shadows because I keep on hearing people comparing them to the Armani Eyes to Kill, which is something that I've really enjoyed using, especially  when I'm in a rush (which is basically everyday).

Honestly I don't think they are comparable, the Eyes to Kill is a blend of several colors, even on it's own you will notice different shades under different lighting, while the color infallible is just a flat shade, basically what you see in the pan is what you get.

Don't get me wrong, the Color Infallible are actually very pigmented and I do like it (especially permanent kaki), but they are just different from Eyes to Kill.

My Opinion:

I love this product, it's super light, fresh and it instantly matifies my skin. I think this is going to be my goto moisturizer for this summer.

Although I do love this moisturizer, it does has it's cons, this product does not work well with every foundation, so far I've noticed that it didn't work with my Maybelline Pure Makeup or Fit Me Liquid Foundation because it came off in flaky clumps, but I had no problems with Maybelline SuperStay 24 hrs or any BB cream.

Sample Attack Round II

It's really hard for me try out new samples, because if I find something that I like I'll just rush out and get them in full size, and since I'm on a "no buy", it's actually a torture, anyway, here's another list of samples that I've tried in the month of February:

Nuxe Refreshing and Relaxing Cream Mask - HK$280 / 1.7oz
No. of trials: 1

This mask is very strongly scented (floral), and have given me the biggest irritation. I left it on for about 5 minutes and my face has started to itch, I've rinse it off and my skin was still red and itchy. I don't know what's happening, I used to love Nuxe's skin care products, but recently floral scented stuffs seems to be irritate my skin.

Methode Swiss Thermal Oxygen Overnight Eye Mask - HK$385 / 15ml
No. of trials: 5

I've been searching for an overnight eye mask for ages, and so far the only one that I've tried is O' slee Dark Circle Reducing Sleeping Mask, and I've really liked it. I was really excited to try this out when the sales lady gave it to me, but was very disappointed with the product.

This product comes out like a gel with some tiny bits of blue particles that disappears once you massage it, when you start massaging, those blue particles will warm up, but after leaving it overnight, I did not notice any improvement on my undereye area, it didn't even look hydrated.

L'oreal Revita Lift Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Cream Night Cream - HK$159 / 50ml
No. of trials: 3

Amongst all these samples that I've tried, this is the only one that I'm unsure about, this cream has a very thick texture that I'm not a huge fan, but whenever I use this cream I always wake up with better skin, I'm not sure what has been improved, but I just look better. I think I'll use this a few more times to decide if I want to get it in full size.

Ultima II Cellular Re-New Eye Cream - HK$500 / 15ml
No. of Trials: 2 weeks

This was a decent eye cream, it was rich and hydrated without causing any milia, will definetly get this in full size.

According to L'oreal's webpage:

Smooth skin for refined pores. Even close up

Retightens pores and smooth skin with Pore Minimising Smoother Toner. Skin is gently exfoliated and purified thanks to an ingredient combination of algae extract and Micro-Smoother ingredients.

My Opinion:

I've initially try using this product twice per day and started to notice irritated skin, then I've cut down to once a day (in the evening), and the irritation has stopped, I guess I'll try to finish the bottle, but won't be repurchasing.

L'oreal Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover

Contents: 125ml
Price: HK$69.00
Local of Purchase: Watsons

According to L'oreal's webpage:

Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover, enriched with Pro Vitamin, gently yet thoroughly removes all traces of make-up. Its refreshing and gentle formula is suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

Ingredients: Aqua/water, hexylene glycol, disodium cocamphodiacetate, panthenol, sodium laureth-8 sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, triethanolamine, allantoin, magnesium laureth-8 sulfate, magnesium laureth sulfate, magnesium oleth sulfate, methylparaben, sodium benzoate, chlorhexidine dihydrochloride, disodium EDTA, quaternium-15, parfum/fragrance (F.I.L. B3093/2)

My Opinion:

Most of the eye makeup removers that I've tried are either drugstores brand, or within the drugstore price range, and I found that they all work amazingly well, including this product.

Although I'm not choosy, I do have a few basic requirements:
  • remove eye makeup,
  • can't sting my eyes,
  • no millia

And since they all fullfill my requirements, I usually shop for bargains, and I think I got this when Watsons was having a buy 2 get 1 free.

L'oreal Blush Remix by Blush Delice in Retro Rose

The pigmentation of this product was so low that it didn't show up in the swatch at all.
