Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator

Contents: 8.5 fl oz / 250ml

According to Joico's webpage:

A 3- to 5-minute treatment (formulated to follow any Joico shampoo) that replenishes moisture and lipids to overly dry, damaged hair.
This hydrating formula has a ph of 3.5 to seal the cuticle, creating a polished surface. Contains Shea Butter for increased elasticity and body.
Even though your hair is very dry, damaged and frizzy, it will become healthier, softer, smoother and shinier. Plus, your hair will have increased manageability.

Ingredients: Deionized Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Glycerin, Cetyl Esters, Lanolin, Hydrolyzed Human Hair Keratin (Quadramine Complex), Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Human Hair Keratin, Hydrolyzed Keratin PG-Propyl Methylsilanediol, Thioctic Acid, Psidium Guajava (Guava) Fruit Extract, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Denothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Glcolipids, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Wheat Starch, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Benzophenone-4, Amodimethicone, Ceteareth-20, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth-12, Butryospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Methylparaben, DMDM Hydantoin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Fragrance.

My Opinion:

You guys know how much I love my Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor, but sometimes when I over do on Keratin, it leaves my hair really gummy, so I need some extra hydration to balance it off.

I've been using Tsubaki Damage Care for hydration and love it, but since my hair texture has improved alot lately, the Tsubaki was getting a bit heavy for me, and I wanted something lighter. I've seen this in the local hair supply store and got it to try out (sorry, but I don't remember how much it was).

I'm about half way down my bottle, and I've noticed that on it's own it really doesn't do much for my hair, it works like any conditioner, but if I use it immediately after my keratin treatment, it just leaves my hair silky and soft, it takes away the gummy feeling from the keratin.

Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor

About 3 months ago I had a really bad perm, and my hair ended up looking like a frizz ball, basically it was chemically damaged, and look at how bad it was...

I didn't wanted to cut it off, so I've started to search for remedies, and decided to try this product

Contents: 5.1 fl oz / 150ml
Price: US$19.00
Local of Purchase: Drugstore.com

According to Joico's webpage:

A powerful five-minute reconstructor that rebuilds and strengthens stressed, physically and/or chemically treated hair.
Lost or depleted amino acids are replenished with a high concentration of Quadramine Complex for maximum reconstruction and protection from the cuticle to the cortex.
Weak and damaged hair is restored to its original strength and condition, helping to prevent color loss and making your hair more responsive to styling.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua) ((aqua)), Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Glycol Stearate, PEG 8 Distearate, Sodium Chloride, Ceteth 2, Hydrolyzed Human Hair Keratin ((Quadramine Complex)), Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Human Hair Keratin, Myristyl Myristate, Citric Acid, Fragrance ((parfum)), Sorbic Acid (A Preservative), Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed OiI, Hydrolyzed Yeast, Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Keratin Amino Acid, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

My Opinion:
This product smells like banana, and has a goopy texture, it reminded me of The Body Shop Banana Conditioner which has been discontinued.

I wasn't really expecting this product to save my hair, I was just trying to postpone cutting it off, and I'm glad that I gave this a try, because although I'd still had to take off about 3 inches, I didn't had to go short.

Let me show you the end result

Amazing, isn't it? I'm starting to sound like a comercial, but please note that everysingle product in this blog has been purchased with my own money.

Back to the product, I've read every single review of this product on makeupalley and came up with the following tips:
  1. Use this product only once per week, and if your hair is as damaged as mine, you could use it twice per week until you are satisfied with the result and go back to once or twice weekly.
  2. Don't ever use this product alone, it will dry out your hair, always follow up with a very hydrating hair mask, I've been using Tsubaki Damage Care, I've tried pairing this with other hair masks, but Tsubaki gave me the best result.
  3. This product only works on damaged hair, if your hair is healthy don't use this, it won't make any difference, it may even dry out your hair.
I've loved this product so much that I went searching for a bigger size and actually found this in a 1 litre bottle in a local salon.
