Banilla Co Clean it Zero Resveratrol

Contents: 100 ml / 3.4oz
Price: HK$115.00
Local of Purchase: Sasa

According to Sasa's webpage:

This best-selling cleanser is in sherbet form when you scoop it, but melts into an oil-type makeup and residue remover as you massage it over your skin. Formulated with papaya, acerola and herbal extracts, it gently casts out impurities, and leaves your skin feeling nourished and supple. Resveratrol's antioxidant benefits help protect the skin from environmental elements. Ideal for all skin types.

Ingredients: Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-10 peg-10 Isostearate, Polyethylene, Butylene Glycol, Purified Water, Grapeseed Oil, Olive Oil, Propanediol, Grape Vine Extract, Grape Root Extract, Oriental Thuja Leaf Extract, Zanthoxylum piperitum Fruit Extract, Resveratrol (2 ppm), Butylparaben, Blue 1, Yellow 4, Fragrance

My Opinion:

This is the best makeup remover that I've tried so far, it removes everything without burning my eyes or leaving my skin tight.

I never even noticed how good this was, until I've recently finished my tube and got a new bottle of cleansing oil and noticing clogged pores. No matter what makeup remover I use I always wash my face again with a foam cleaner, so I guess this product does make a difference on my skincare regime.

Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Nourishing Oil

Contents: 120ml
Price: HK$79.00
Local of Purchase: Mannings

According to Maybelline's webpage:

  • Removes dirt, oil and makeup thoroughly.
  • Nourishes skin with essential Vitamin E.

  • My Opinion:

I've never been a huge fan of cleansing oil, even the ones that everybody seems to love like Shu Uemura or DHC it didn't work for me, it either broke me out or didn't cleanse well.

Although I do have a favorite cleansing oil, which is the Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil, but it retails for HK$185/120ml,  and I appear to go thru a bottle every 3 weeks. So no, I have to look for something more economical.

So far the Maybelline Cleansing Oil has been doing a great job in removing my makeup, and is half the price of the Fancl Cleansing Oil, the only downside is that the maybelline one does not have a scent so it basically smells like oil on your skin, in which case I'm not a huge fan. I can see this working for someone who doesn't like their skin care product scented, but personally I prefer something nicely scented.

    Dove Beauty Moisture Face Wash

    Contents: 100g
    Price: HK$32.90
    Local of Purchase: Mannings

    According to the package:

Dove Beauty Moisture effectively cleanses while replenishing moisture deep down for beautiful conditioned skin.
It contains NutriumMoisture™ - a nourishing beauty serum that replenishes skin from deep within giving it a beautiful bounce.

Ingredients: Water, Petrolatum, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate & Potassium Cocoate, Glycerin, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate Hydroxypropyl Starch Phopsphate, Acrylates Copolymer, Lauric Acid, Lauramidoprpopyl, Betaine, Sodium Cocoyl Isethinoate & Coconut Acid & Sodium Isethinoate, Polybutene, Palmitic Acid & Stearic Acid, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-6, Citric Acid Monohydrate, Tetrasodium EDTA, BHT, Guar Hydrxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Methylchloro- Isothiazolinone & Methylisothiazolinone.

    My Opinion:

I have a complicated relationship with Dove, whenever I'm not sure what to get, I'll get Dove, because they always deliver what it promises, and I'm never disappointed with their products, but if I have a particular issue that I need to tackle, I'll just have to look somewhere else.

Like this face wash, it cleanses my skin without drying it out, is a good face wash, but it doesn't amaze it. Will I be repurchasing? Most probably yes, but it'll only happen when I don't see anything new.

    Lid Care Sterile Wipes

Contents: 20 individually sealed sterile eyelid cleansing wipes
    Local of Purchase: Farmacia Popular
    Price: HK46.70

    According to the package:

20 Individually sealed sterile eyelid cleansing wipes.  This contains 20 individually sealed wipes that are pre-soaked with the Lid-Care solution.

These sterile wipes are convenient and handbag-friendly for cleansing on the go. In addition, the wipes are individually sealed to ensure that the wipes are completely sterile.

Ingredients: Each wipe is individually sealed and soaked with Aqua, Lauroamphodiacetate, Sodium trideceth sulphate, Hexylene glycol, PEG 20 Sorbitan monolaurate, Propylene glycol, Boric acid, Sodium borate, Disodium EDTA.

    My Opinion:

Several weeks ago, I had a stye on my lower lash line (really close to my eyes), it wasn't red or swollen, it was just irritating.

I've started to use these wipes to clean my lash line and after about 4 days it was gone, but since then, I've only been using these wipes to remove my eye makeup.

I always though that my cleansing regime was removing everything, but after using these wipes, I came to realize that there were still makeup residue around my eyes even after removing everything with a makeup remover and going over it with a cleanser.

Even though they are expensive, I'm going to stick with it, because I've noticed brighter skin around my eyes after using it.

Kose Softymo Mineral Wash Pore Clean

    Contents: 30g
    Price: HK$35.00
    Local of Purchase: Sasa

Ingredients: Royal Jelly Extract, Brown Sugar Extract, Glycerin, Red Algae and Green Algae and a whole bunch of other things that I can't read (it's written in Japanese)

I've never really disliked any particular face wash, because I always remove my makeup with a makeup remover and only use a face wash afterwards. As long as it cleanses my face without breaking me out, I'm happy with it.

Kose Softymo face wash comes with 3 formula, and I got the one for oily and congested skin, it contains some tiny beads and it claims to be micro fine scrubbing particles that will deep clean skin and pores. Honestly I didn't like this product, my skin didn't felt cleanse after using it. I think this issue is only personal, because my husband has used up the whole tube without complain, but I definetly won't be repurchasing.

With a 2-Year Limited Warranty and a 10-Year Quality Guarantee, there’s every reason to invest in your skin.

    My Opinion:

I'm a really lazy person, so when it comes to washing my face, I really do need a gadget with a timer so that I would wash my face for a full minute.

I've been using the Clarisonic Plus daily, but even with the delicate brush head I could only use it once a day (usually in the evening), if I use more than that, my skin would be irritated.

I've got the Luna Mini, because I've read people comparing it with the clarisonic, and since the Luna doesn't needs to change a brush head every 3 months, I'll be saving US$88 per year.

I had the Luna for nearly 6 months, and I've concluded that it does cleanse your face properly and is not as irritating as the Clarisonic, I can use it both in the morning and evening without a problem, but it doesn't cleanse the neck and decollete area as well as the clarisonic.

When I finish washing my face, I always wipe it over with a toner and I noticed residue around my neck area, this might be due to the smaller brush head of the mini, so what I've been doing is washing my face with the luna in the morning and the clarisonic in the evening.

When I run out of brush heads for the clarisonic, I might consider getting a full size luna to confirm if it works better around the neck and decollete area.

    My Opinion:

I'd usually stick with drugstores products when it comes to cleanser, because I don't believe that a product that stays only on my skin for less than a minute is going to do much.

I've only got a sample size of this product because I needed something small for my trip, I've finish this bottle and I did like it, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing, because I could have gotten a full size from the drugstore for the same prize.

    My Opinion:

I've never been a huge fan of Body's Shop skin care products, but I do love their body care stuffs, especially the shower gels and body scrubs. Recently, while I was stocking up on my body care products, this Tea Tree Combo was being promoted and it was HK$179.00 for 2.

I've actually got those for my husband but ended really liking the Squeaky Clean Scrub, the beads size were just right to exfoliate without irritating my skin and the Tea Tree has kept my skin clear. However I didn't really care for the Cream and Creamy wash, but that's just a personal preference because I always wash my face with my clarisonic, and since this facial wash does not lather it doesn't work with the clarisonic.

    Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Sheets

    Contents: 46 sheets
    Price: HK$59.90 (refills HK$49.90)
    Local of Purchase: Mannings

    According to Biore's webpage:

Gentle on your skin but tough on makeup, alcohol-free Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Sheets removes all traces of makeup easily- even waterproof mascara! Cleansing oil does not remain on skin so there is no greasy, sticky feeling after use. Made of 100% natural cotton fibre and contains moisturising agents that makes skin feel soft, smooth and supple, not tight. Enjoy the convenience of quick and easy makeup removal anytime, anywhere with Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Sheets.

    My Opinion:

I've been using these makeup wipes to remove my makeup for the last few weeks and so far have been very satified, it removes all my makeup without the need to go over it with another cleanser (note that I don't use waterproof stuffs).

After removing my makeup I'll just rinse with water and I'm good to go, doesn't feel oily or greasy, my only complain would be the shape of the wipes, it has a long rectangular shape that makes it kind of weird to wipe with it, but that might be because I'm used to square wipes.

    • effectively removes up to 99% of oil, dirt and impurities,
    • contains pink grapefruit, helps eliminate dead skin cells for younger-looking and healthy skin
    Dermatologist tested
    • oil free
    • alcohol free
    • non-comedogenic
Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, DI-PPG-2-Myreth-10-Adipate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80, Sorbitan Laurate, PEG-7-Glyceryl Cocoate, Phenoxyethanol, Decyl, Glucoside, Cocamidopropylamine Oxide, Fragrance, PEG-150, Distearate, Methylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Propylparaben, Citric Acid, Ethylparaben, Dipotassium Glycyrhizate, Methylisothiazolinone, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, CI 60730, Morus Alba Root Extract, Cooper Gluconate, CI 17200.

    My Opinion:
I've previously tried the Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalizing Pink Grapefruit Ultra Foam Cleanser, which I've hated, and the reason why I had this in the mulberry scent as well, was because it was cheaper to get 2.

Luckily this wasn't as bad as the Grapefruit one, because at least it did smell like berries. Although the grapefruit one claims to be revitalizing while the mulberry claims to be brightening, most of their ingredients were the same, so I really don't understand how they are going to perform differently.

    Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

My skin has always been sensitive during the spring, but this year was awful, for most of the time it was either red or slightly swollen, I've been applying topical ointment prescribed by the derm for nearly a month, and although it did help to calm it down, once I stop using it, it starts to freak out again.

In order to improve my current situation, I've actually changed my basic skin care regime and have my fingers crossed hoping that it might improve, so I'm going to spend the rest of this week recounting what I've been using.

    Let's start with the cleanser:

    Contents: 16 fl oz
    Price: HK$89.00
    Local of Purchase: Bonjour

    According to Cetaphil's webpage:

    As gentle as it gets.
Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser is great for daily makeup removal. Originally formulated for dermatologists, this cleanser is gentle on your skin and sensitive to your skin’s needs. Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser will not strip the skin of natural protective oils or emollients, or disturb the skin’s natural pH balance. This dermatologist-recommended cleanser is fragrance-free and non-comedogenic. Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser is gentle enough for children, teens and adults.

Ingredients: Water, cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, stearyl alcohol, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben.

    According to the package:

Cetaphil cleanser is easy to use:

With Water: Apply to the skin and rub gently. Rinse

Without Water: Apply a liberal amount to the skin and rub gently. The unique, low lathering formula allows gentle, yet thorough cleansing. Remove excess with a soft cloth, leaving a thin film of Cetaphil on the skin. The emollient quality will leave the skin soft and moist.

    My Opinion:

This product was actually recommended to me by my dermatologist, and I've been using it every morning for nearly 3 weeks. The reason why I only use it in the morning is because I prefer a foam cleanser, only after washing my face with a foam cleanser will I actually feel cleanse (I know I'm weird).

Back to the product, I always rinse my face with water after cleansing with this product because I does leave a film behind and I do not like it, especially during the hot humid summer days, but I think this might be good for someone with really dry skin.

    My Opinion:
This is a really concentrated cleansing foam, and you only need a tiny bit to cleanse your face.

I didn't really use this to remove my makeup, only to wash my face in the morning, and have been using it for over a month. I never had any problems until recently I've started to have an allergic reaction with this cleanser, I told my husband to finish it off but his face was all red after using it, so it went to the bin.

    My Opinion:

This product is call L'oreal Go 360 Anti-Breakout Facial Cleanser in the States, although different names I thing they are the same product.

I usually stick with Japanese drugstore cleansers, because it cleanses my skin without breaking my wallet, but I've decided to try this out because I've really liked the L'oreal go 360 Clean Deep Exfoliating Scrub, but unfortunately I didn't like this cleanser at all.

The scent was horrible, and I didn't like the feeling that there was something still on my skin after rinsing.

    Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

    Contents: 25 towelettes
    Price: HK$40.90
    Local of Purchase: Mannings

    According to Neutrogena's webpage:

Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and makeup--even waterproof mascara--for clean, fresh skin in one easy step.

These gentle, ultra soft cloths contain superior cleansing technology so effective it removes even waterproof mascara. With one step, it leaves skin thoroughly clean with no heavy residue, so there's no need to rinse. And it's gentle enough to use around the sensitive eye area, even for contact lens wearers.

Make your skin make-up free the easy way.

Ingredients: Water, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Isostearyl Palmitate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hexylene Glycol, PEG 4 Laurate, PEG 6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Sucrose Cocoate, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetate Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance (Parfum)

    My Opinion:
I would consider myself a newbie with these wet cleansing towelettes, because so far I've only tried 3 differente kinds, and I didn't really like the ones that I've tried so far.

I have to admit that these were really convenient, but I found that I always have to go over it with a cleanser because they just don't remove all my makeup.

Anyway, amongst the ones that I've tried I think Neutrogena is the only one that I might consider repurchasing, but I'm still not entirely satisfy with it, unlike my Olay 2 in 1 Cleansing Cloths, these really does remove all traces of makeup without the need to go over it with a cleanser, but unfortunately these are dry wipes and I'm searching for a wet wipe.

Unlike other cleansing oils, it leaves no greasy film on your face and maintains the skin's natural moisture balance. It does not emulsify upon contact with water, thus maintaining its optimal cleansing performance at all times. Just apply with dry or wet hands and rinse off with water for that clean and fresh feeling!

    My Opinion:
I think this is a decent cleansing oil that removes most of my makeup (not waterproof), and I love that it smells like apple.

This product feels lighter than the Shu Uemura cleansing oil (something that I didn't like), and it doesn't leave my skin greasy after wash, my only complain is that it doesn't really emulsify.

    My Opinion:
This is my third foam cleanser from The Face Shop Herb Day 365 series, and so far I've tried it in Lemon and Acerola.

This foam cleanser feels exactly like the others, cleanses well without drying out your skin, but is not particularly hydrating. Their only difference is in the scent, the Aloe one has a very clean scent, but my favorite is still Acerola.

    Daiso Natural Pack

    Contents: 80g
Price: HK$15 (When I got my first tube it was only HK$10, I've got one today and they have raised their prices again....)
    Local of Purchase: Daiso

    My Opinion:
This is my favortie cleansing mask, and I don't remember how many bottles I've already went thru, but I always have a tube around.

This mask comes out like a gel (infuse with charcoals) and dries into a film that you are suppose to peel it off. I love that it's in black and I can actually see all the gunks that's been plugged out.

I think this mask is really good for someone with very oily skin (that's me), because it does remove all oils and gunks from your pores, but if you have dry/sensitive skin forget about it.

The down side of this product, is when you try to peel it off, it really hurts, apart from removing all the gunks, it actually removes facial hairs and dead skin as well, but since I've already got used to it, it doesn't really bothers me.

Before this product I've been using Seikisho Mask White, and I think this is a very good dupe. I've noticed that with Daiso Natural Pack you need a lot more product, and the drying time is alot longer than Seikisho, but since Seikisho retails for HK$212, I'm willing to overlook.

    Innisfree Olive Real Cleansing Foam

    Contents: 150ml
Price: Won 10,000 (got this during a BOGO)
    Local of Purchase: Korea

    According to Innisfree's webpage:

With its rich antioxidant ingredients and vitamin nutrients from the finest organically grown olives, this enriched hydrating cleansing foam thoroughly removes makeup residues and impurities left inside pores with its soft and rich lather.
A highly enriched hydrating cleansing foam with organic olives for deep moisturization.

    My Opinion:

I've been using this mainly in the morning and have really enjoyed it. It smells super fresh (lemon) and it really wakes me up in the morning. It doesn't dry up my skin but it doesn't feel particularly moisturising, taking the price into consideration, it's a really good cleanser.
